Artistic Director

Rachel Morgan was appointed Artistic Director of CCM in June 2023. She conducts CCM's three performing choirs, oversees its musicianship program and other offerings, and spearheads the artistic direction of the organization. She has led CCM choirs to perform at major state and national events and to engage in numerous artistic collaborations. She has also been instrumental in re-building post-pandemic CCM's long-standing tradition of performance tours.

Since 2010, Rachel has served as a conductor with the Children's Chorus of Carroll County (CCCC), where she directs the top advanced ensemble, the early intermediate ensemble, and CCCC combined choirs. She has led CCCC choirs to win numerous awards at choral festivals and adjudications, and she has co-directed touring ensembles that have performed in both the United States and Europe.

A school vocal music teacher from 2005-2020, Rachel earned elite recognition as Finalist for Carroll County Public Schools Teacher of the Year 2015 and won CCPS's prestigious Outstanding Teacher Award (1 of 8 winners out of more than 500 nominees). During her years in the classroom, she taught music at every single grade level and in both public and private school settings. She also served in numerous leadership positions at school and county levels.

As a freelance conductor and teacher, Rachel has held contracts with a variety of arts organizations over the years, including Lamplight Artists (2002-2019), the National Christian Choir (2019), the Maryland Academy of Dance (2021-2023), Carroll Community College Theatre (2023), and York County Honors Choirs (2022-2026). She has also taught private voice lessons and has served as a church musician.

Rachel holds a Master of Music from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, Kodály Certification from the American Kodály Institute of Loyola University, and a Bachelor of Music Education from the Conservatory of Music at Wheaton College. She has completed 40 additional graduate credits centered on world folk arts at McDaniel College, and she regularly travels internationally to continue learning about cultural arts around the globe.
