From Baltimore Concert Opera: “[T]he young poet Werther confesses his love to Charlotte, but she is already engaged to another as a promise to her dying mother. Charlotte’s sister Sophie attempts to mollify the young man, but he is disconsolate. When Charlotte finally decides to love him back, it is too late. Combining lush melodies with the tragedy of young love, the opera promises an evening where no eye remains dry.”
