CHILDREN'S CHORUS OF MARYLAND ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
RECEIVES HIGH PRAISE
Vandercook College of Music awards Betty Bertaux honorary degree of
Doctor of Music Education

July 27, 2001 -- The Children's Chorus of Maryland Artistic Director, Betty Bertaux, has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Music Education Honorus Causa from the VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, Illinois. The graduation ceremony will be held on Friday, July 27, 2001 and Ms. Bertaux will deliver the commencement address. Ms. Bertaux is the first choral musician to receive this high award from the VanderCook College of Music for her "lifetime of professional dedication to children's music education, voice development, composition and choral performance!"

Ms. Bertaux is known internationally as an authority in the field of choral activities, vocal music education and voice development for children. She is actively involved in teacher training as a lecturer and presenter throughout the United States, Canada and Australia. Ms. Bertaux is also established and frequently commissioned as a composer and arranger of choral music. She has developed a very successful composer series over the last 20 years with Boosey & Hawkes of New York, which contains over 30 titles.

The Children's Chorus of Maryland, committed to music education and performance programs for musically talented and gifted children in the Greater Baltimore Area, is entering its 26th year.
